The day, hour by hour
10:00
Collection from your hotel
Breakfast done, rush hour cleared. Your chauffeur arrives and you head south-east via the M20 through Kent.
10:00 to 11:00
Drive to Leeds Castle via the M20
Approximately 45 miles, about 55 minutes. London gives way to the Kent countryside as you pass through the North Downs. Leeds Castle appears on the right side of the motorway before you exit.
11:00 to 13:00
Leeds Castle
Two hours at the castle and grounds. The castle itself, the moat walk, the parkland, the maze and grotto if time allows. Leeds Castle is one of the most visited historic attractions in England and genuinely earns it. Your chauffeur parks in the visitor car park and is reachable throughout.
13:00 to 13:30
Drive to Canterbury
About 15 miles, 20 to 25 minutes along the A20 and A28. A short drive through the Kent countryside between two of the county’s most important sites.
13:30 to 14:15
Lunch in Canterbury
Canterbury has a good range of independent restaurants and cafes in the medieval streets around the cathedral. The Goods Shed, in the Victorian station building, is a farmers market with restaurant tables and one of the best lunch spots in Kent. Your chauffeur can suggest and book.
14:15 to 17:00
Canterbury Cathedral and the medieval city
Two and a half hours in Canterbury. The cathedral is the centrepiece, with the site of Thomas Becket’s murder, the Black Prince’s tomb, the Norman crypt, and the medieval stained glass. The walled city around it has Roman walls, the Westgate Towers, and medieval streets worth exploring on foot. Your chauffeur waits near the city centre.
17:00 to 18:30
Return to London via the M2
Approximately 60 miles, around 75 to 90 minutes via the M2 and A2. Back at your hotel by 18:30, evening ahead of you.
The two sites
Built on two islands in a natural lake in the Kent countryside, Leeds Castle has been a royal residence for six of England’s medieval queens, including Catherine of Aragon. The current buildings date from the 12th century, with substantial additions in the 19th. The setting, with the castle reflected in the lake and the parkland surrounding it, is one of the finest in England.
The grounds include a maze, a grotto beneath it, a falconry centre, and a dog collar museum with over 130 collars spanning five centuries. The castle interior has well-presented period rooms. Admission ~£32 adult, ~£20 child. Book at leeds-castle.com. The castle is 45 minutes from Central London via the M20.
England’s principal place of Christian worship since 597 AD, when Augustine arrived from Rome and established the first church on this site. The present cathedral dates from 1070, with the famous Romanesque crypt from that period still intact. Canterbury is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in medieval Europe, celebrated in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.
The site of Thomas Becket’s murder in 1170 is marked in the northwest transept. The Black Prince’s tomb and those of Henry IV and his queen are in the Trinity Chapel. The medieval stained glass is among the finest surviving in England. The Norman crypt is the largest in the world. Admission ~£18 adult, ~£12 child. Book at canterbury-cathedral.org.

How much does a private Canterbury and Leeds Castle day tour cost?+
Private Canterbury and Leeds Castle tours start from £495 (around US$630) for a Budget Saloon up to 3 passengers for 8 hours. Executive MPV for up to 6 passengers is £845 (~US$1,070), roughly US$178 each in a group of 6. First Class Saloon is £1,085 and Luxury SUV is £1,710. Should we visit Leeds Castle or Canterbury first?+
Leeds Castle first, always. It sits directly on the M20 motorway 45 miles from London, so it falls naturally on the route out. Canterbury is a further 15 miles south-east on the A28. Coming back, the M2 from Canterbury to London is the most direct return. Visiting in this order means no backtracking and no wasted miles.
Is admission to Leeds Castle and Canterbury Cathedral included?+
No. Leeds Castle admission is ~£32 adult and ~£20 child, booked at leeds-castle.com. Canterbury Cathedral admission is ~£18 adult and ~£12 child, booked at canterbury-cathedral.org. We recommend booking both in advance, particularly Leeds Castle in summer and at weekends.
Is a guide included?+
No. Your chauffeur drives and waits at both sites but does not provide formal commentary. Both Leeds Castle and Canterbury Cathedral include their own audio guides with admission. A qualified Blue Badge Guide can be arranged from £250 for a half day if you want expert historical commentary at each location.
Can we visit just Canterbury or just Leeds Castle?+
Yes. If you only want one site, contact us on WhatsApp and we will quote a shorter tour based on your preferred duration. Canterbury alone is about 6 hours door to door. Leeds Castle alone is about 5 hours. Both combined in 8 hours is the most efficient use of a full day in Kent.
Is there a minimum number of passengers?+
No. The price is per vehicle, not per person. An Executive MPV at £845 for 6 passengers works out at roughly US$178 each for a full 8-hour private day visiting two of England’s finest medieval sites.
What is the cancellation policy?+
