The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library and Sheldonian Theatre (Sir Christopher Wren's first completed building) form the finest Baroque academic complex in Britain.

When to Visit

Christ Church Meadow and the Botanic Garden are at their best in May and early June. Encaenia (June) brings honorary degree ceremonies with academic processions. Christmas services at Christ Church Cathedral rival those of Cambridge King's. Summer sees peak crowds and college closures for admissions — a private chauffeur bypasses the notorious Oxford one-way system and Park & Ride shuttles entirely.

Beyond the Colleges
