What is punting and should we try it?+
Punting is propelling a flat-bottomed boat along a shallow river using a long pole. The Backs route along the Cam, passing behind King’s, Trinity, St John’s and other colleges, is one of the best ways to see Cambridge. A chauffeured punt (where a Cambridge student or punter does the work) is recommended, around 45-60 minutes on the river, with the college backs on one side and willows on the other. Do we need to book any tickets in advance?+

Choose Oxford if Harry Potter filming locations, the Bodleian Library, or combining with Blenheim Palace matters most. Most visitors who do both say the contrast is the point, they are similar on the surface but genuinely different in feel. If you can only choose one and have no strong preference, Cambridge is generally considered the more picturesque of the two.
