Quick answer
A private Stonehenge tour from London with Chauffeurz costs from £495 per vehicle (around US$628) (Budget Saloon, up to 3 passengers) to £1,595 (Luxury SUV). The price is per vehicle, not per person — a family of 6 in an Executive MPV pays £795 total, roughly £133 each. The tour is 6 hours door to door: approximately 90 minutes each way, plus 2 to 2.5 hours at the site. Your chauffeur collects you from your London hotel at a time you choose, drives you to Salisbury Plain, waits while you explore, and brings you back. No group, no coach, no fixed departure. Stonehenge admission (~£27 adult) is not included and must be booked separately at english-heritage.org.uk.
A private journey, not a guided tour
Your own car and chauffeur for six hours, from your London address to Salisbury Plain and back. No group, no fixed departure, no coach. You decide when you leave, how long you stay among the stones, and whether you stop for lunch on the way home.
What this is, and what it is not
Please read before booking
This is a private chauffeur driven day journey, not a guided tour. Your chauffeur collects you, drives the route, waits while you explore, and brings you home. There is no group, no timetable and no commentary. You are free to spend as long as you like at the site and to change the plan on the day.
English Heritage includes a free multilingual audio guide with admission, which most visitors find is the right amount of explanation at the right pace. If you would rather have expert commentary all day, we can arrange a qualified Blue Badge Guide from £250 for a half day.
Price by vehicle
Priced per vehicle for the whole six hours, not per person — a family of five pays the same as a couple in the same car. All prices include VAT.

The day, hour by hour
Indicative rather than fixed. Every timing here is yours to move and your chauffeur will simply adjust.
09:00
Collection
Your chauffeur arrives at your address, helps with anything you are carrying, and you leave when you are ready.
09:00 to 11:00
The drive west
Ninety minutes to two hours depending on traffic. London gives way to Berkshire and then to Salisbury Plain. Stop for coffee whenever you like.
11:00 to 13:30
Stonehenge
Your chauffeur drops you at the visitor centre and waits. Two to two and a half hours covers the exhibition, the shuttle or the walk, and unhurried time at the stones.
13:30 to 14:30
Lunch, if you want it
A village pub on the way back, Salisbury and its cathedral, or straight home. Tell your chauffeur on the day.
By 15:00
Back in London
Returned to your address with the afternoon and the evening still ahead of you.
The practical things nobody tells you
This is right for you if
- ✓You are a family or a group of three to six, where the per person cost becomes sensible
- ✓You want to leave at nine rather than meet a coach at half past seven
- ✓Somebody in your party has limited mobility, or small children, or both
- ✓You have read about Stonehenge already and want to see it, not be lectured about it
- ✓You want to decide on the day whether to stop in Salisbury
- ✓You have done one coach tour and have no intention of doing another
Book something else if
- ×You are two people on a tight budget. A coach tour with admission included costs far less and you still see the stones
- ×You want somebody talking to you all day. Add the Blue Badge Guide, or book a guided tour from a specialist
- ×You want inner circle access. That is a separate English Heritage experience outside normal hours
- ×You want Stonehenge and Bath in one day. Six hours is not enough for both — take our longer journey instead

Questions
Is a guide included?+
No, and we would rather say so plainly than have you discover it at the visitor centre. This is a private chauffeur driven journey. Your chauffeur drives, waits and looks after you, but does not accompany you around the site or provide commentary.
English Heritage includes a free multilingual audio guide with admission. If you want a guide for the day, we can arrange a qualified Blue Badge Guide from £250 for a half day.
Is admission included in the price?+
No. Admission is around £27 for an adult and £17 for a child booked online in advance, and entry is by timed slot. We keep it separate so the vehicle price stays clean and comparable, and so a change of plan does not leave you holding non-refundable tickets.
How long does it take to reach Stonehenge from London?+
Ninety minutes to two hours each way, depending on where you are staying and on traffic on the M3 and A303. That is why six hours is the sensible length: roughly four hours of driving and two to two and a half hours at the site.
Can we choose our own departure time?+
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons people book this rather than a coach. An early start means fewer people in your photographs. A later start suits anyone who arrived on a long-haul flight the day before.
Does the chauffeur wait while we explore?+
That is exactly what happens. He parks at the visitor centre and waits, and you have his number. There is no meeting time to run back for and nobody counting heads on a coach. If you want another half hour, take it.
Can we add Bath, Salisbury or Windsor?+
Salisbury or Old Sarum fit comfortably with an extra hour. Bath does not fit in six hours, so we run a longer journey covering both properly. Windsor sits in the other direction and works better as its own day, often on an arrival or departure day because it is so close to Heathrow.
What happens if it rains?+
The journey runs. Stonehenge is open in almost all weather and the site is exposed, so bring a layer and something waterproof. Your vehicle is warm, dry and thirty minutes away, which is more than a coach party can say.
Is there a minimum number of passengers?+
No. The price is for the vehicle, so two people pay the same as six in the same category. That works in your favour with a family and against you if you are travelling alone, which is worth being honest about.
Can you collect us from Heathrow or Gatwick?+
Yes. A Heathrow start puts you on the right side of London and saves the best part of an hour. Ask us when you book, and ask about combining the journey with your airport transfer.
How much does a private Stonehenge tour cost per person?+
The price is per vehicle, not per person. A Budget Saloon is £495 for up to 3 passengers — £165 each in a group of 3. An Executive MPV for up to 6 passengers is £795 — £133 each in a group of 6. The more passengers you share with, the better the per-person value.
What is the cancellation policy?+
Free cancellation up to twenty four hours before your collection time. Inside twenty four hours, charges apply as set out in our Terms and Conditions. Admission tickets you have bought yourself are subject to English Heritage’s own terms rather than ours.
