Quick answer
A custom private chauffeur tour with Chauffeurz can go anywhere in England, Wales, or Scotland , any destination, any duration, any vehicle. Minimum booking is 4 hours. Pricing is based on vehicle category, hours, and miles driven beyond the included mileage allowance. Send us your destination, your group size, and your preferred dates and we will send you a fixed quote within a few hours. No obligation. No hidden charges.
Your itinerary. Your destinations. Your vehicle. Your schedule.
Not every trip fits a standard itinerary. Perhaps you want to visit a filming location we do not list, a country house only you care about, a coastal village that only locals know, or three cities in two days with an overnight in the middle. Perhaps you want to combine a London sightseeing morning with Stonehenge in the afternoon, or travel from London to Edinburgh with stops along the way. Whatever you have in mind, tell us. We will build the route, calculate the price, and send you a fixed quote. No hourly surprises. No mileage ambiguity at the end of the day.
How custom tour pricing works
Custom tours are priced on three components: vehicle hourly rate, mileage beyond the included allowance, and any overnight costs on multi-day tours. There are no hidden extras, no surge charges, and no meter running while you explore.
Each vehicle has an hourly rate. Longer tours cost proportionally more than shorter ones. A 4-hour tour in a Budget Saloon costs less than our standard Stonehenge tour. A 12-hour tour in an Executive MPV costs significantly more than our standard Oxford tour. For reference, our fixed tours start from £475 for 8 hours. Custom tours are quoted using the same rate structure.
Every booking includes a mileage allowance , 40 miles for the first 4 hours, then 10 additional miles per hour. A 4-hour tour includes 40 miles. An 8-hour tour includes 80 miles. An 10-hour tour includes 100 miles. Miles driven beyond this allowance are charged per mile, depending on vehicle class. For most day tours within England this adds a modest amount to the total. For long-distance or multi-stop tours it becomes a significant factor and we calculate it precisely in your quote.
For tours covering more than one day, the chauffeur stays overnight at or near your hotel. His accommodation costs are included in the quote and are typically modest , a business hotel near your location. You pay for the full duration of the tour from day one departure to the final day return, not just the driving hours. Multi-day tours are quoted as a single fixed price covering all days, all miles, and overnight accommodation for the driver.
All quotes include fuel, VAT, the London Congestion Charge if applicable, ULEZ, parking at all stops, waiting time throughout, bottled water and phone charging. Admission fees, meals, and guide fees are always separate and clearly noted. The price you receive is the price you pay.
Ten tours we have built for past clients
These are real examples of custom tours built around specific client interests. None of them appear in our standard programme. Prices are not shown because each depends on vehicle, exact route, and duration , but all were quoted and confirmed within a few hours of the initial enquiry.
Highclere Castle in Hampshire, the exterior and estate used as Downton Abbey, combined with Bampton in Oxfordshire where the village scenes were filmed, and a Cotswolds afternoon in Bourton-on-the-Water. A 10-hour day for a group of 6 who had watched every series twice. Similar in scope and distance to our Stonehenge and Bath combined tour.
Day one: London to York, with a stop at Burghley House in Lincolnshire. Day two: York to Edinburgh via the Northumberland coast and Alnwick Castle. Day three: Edinburgh sightseeing in a First Class Saloon, then train home , client preferred the train south so the chauffeur drove the vehicle back empty. A three-day programme quoted as a single price.
Bletchley Park in Milton Keynes, the World War Two home of the codebreakers, combined with Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, birthplace of Winston Churchill. Both sites are between 60 and 80 miles from London in roughly the same direction. An 8-hour day with a lunch stop in Woodstock village, next to Blenheim. Popular with American visitors on a Churchill itinerary.
Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, combined with Warwick Castle 8 miles away. Around 100 miles from London. A 9 to 10-hour day with lunch in Stratford. Similar in driving time to our Oxford tour. Popular with clients who have already done the standard Oxford and Cambridge visits.
The White Cliffs of Dover visitor centre, a walk on the cliff top, then the medieval town of Deal with its Tudor castle on the beach, and Sandwich, one of England’s original Cinque Ports. This route runs east of Canterbury and is less visited than the standard Kent attractions. Around 75 miles from London, similar in distance to our Canterbury tour.
Salisbury Cathedral, the finest medieval cathedral in England and home to the best-preserved original copy of Magna Carta, combined with Avebury stone circle , larger than Stonehenge, less visited, and free to enter. Both are within 90 miles of London. A good alternative for clients who have already visited Stonehenge and want to see more of prehistoric Wiltshire.
London to Windermere on day one, with a stop in the Yorkshire Dales. Day two in the Lake District: Grasmere, Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, a boat trip on Windermere, and Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top in Near Sawrey. Return on day three or connect to Edinburgh. Around 280 miles from London. A two or three-day programme in a Luxury SUV for families who want England’s most famous national park at a pace a coach tour cannot offer.
Collected from Heathrow Terminal 5 on arrival, straight to the Cotswolds for a full day visiting Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Burford, then dropped at a Cotswolds hotel for the night. The following morning, driven to London to check in. Heathrow to the Cotswolds is around 60 miles , significantly less than Heathrow to Central London and back. A logical first-day itinerary for visitors arriving from the west coast of the USA.
Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton, where she wrote Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and Emma in their final form. Then Winchester Cathedral, where she is buried, and the nave where her grave is marked. The Test Valley has the kind of Hampshire countryside she described. Around 65 miles from London. A 7 to 8-hour day for readers who know the novels well.
London to Edinburgh by train, then a Luxury SUV for five days: Edinburgh, St Andrews, the east coast to Inverness, Loch Ness and the Highlands, Glen Coe, Oban, and return via Glasgow. All accommodation arranged around the route. The chauffeur joins in Edinburgh, stays with the group throughout, and returns the vehicle from Glasgow. One of the most requested multi-day programmes we receive from American and Australian clients visiting the UK for the first time.

Questions
What is the minimum booking for a custom tour?+
Four hours. This is the minimum booking across all vehicle categories. A 4-hour custom tour covers a destination up to around 40 miles from your pickup point , enough for Windsor, Greenwich, Kew Gardens, or a focused morning in a specific part of London. For destinations further out, you will need more hours to allow proper time at the site.
How do extra miles work?+
Every booking includes 40 miles in the first 4 hours, then 10 additional miles for each extra hour. A 6-hour tour includes 60 miles. An 8-hour tour includes 80 miles. Miles beyond this allowance are charged per mile depending on vehicle category. We calculate the total mileage precisely for your route and include it in your quote. There are no mileage surprises at the end of the day.
Can we travel outside England?+
Yes, anywhere in England, Wales, or Scotland. We do not operate tours to mainland Europe. Ireland is not available as it requires ferry or flight connections. Within Great Britain, any destination is available on request.
How does a multi-day tour work in practice?+
Your chauffeur travels with you throughout the tour. Each evening he drops you at your hotel and checks into a nearby hotel himself at his own expense, which is included in your quote. Each morning he collects you at the agreed time. You do not need to arrange separate transport between days. The vehicle is yours for the entire duration.
How long does it take to receive a quote?+
Within a few hours on working days for straightforward itineraries. Complex multi-day programmes or tours with multiple destinations may take until the following morning while we check vehicle availability and overnight logistics. WhatsApp is faster for simple enquiries. Email is better for complex itineraries where you want to include attachments or a detailed description.
Can we change the itinerary on the day?+
Yes, within reason. If you want to spend more time at one location and skip another, your chauffeur will accommodate that. If you want to add a significant detour that substantially increases mileage beyond the quoted amount, there may be a small additional charge for the extra miles. Your chauffeur will tell you before proceeding, not at the end of the day.
What is the cancellation policy for custom tours?+
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your departure time for single-day custom tours. Multi-day tours require 72 hours notice for a full refund. Inside these windows, cancellation charges apply as set out in our Terms and Conditions. The cancellation window for custom tours is slightly longer than standard tours to allow us to release the vehicle and driver for other bookings.
